VENEZUELA ANAEROBIC HOHEY
Finca Los Nogales, where producer Ronald Buitrago is helping to shape the country’s new wave of specialty coffee. Though the farm was founded in 1945, Ronald only began planting coffee in 2021, shifting from strawberries and peaches to Castillo and Monte Carlo varietals as local markets changed. His Anaerobic Honey process reflects both curiosity and precision: careful fermentation followed by controlled drying results in a cup that is deeply layered and expressive. In the glass, it unfolds with flavors of cherry, pear, brown spice, and a winey finish, a profile that speaks both to the rich ecology of Táchira State and Ronald’s dedication to learning and experimenting as a newer coffee grower. Surrounded by mountains, freshwater springs, and a canopy of native trees and orchids, Los Nogales is not just producing exceptional coffee but also sustaining biodiversity and community livelihoods, carrying forward Ronald’s dream to share “from this corner of the planet, our coffee and our people.”
